Inception (2010) Ending - real or dream?

Everyone seems to be pondering about the Inception ending, and whether the final scenes involving Mr. Cobb (Leonardo di Caprio) are in dreamscape or reality. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a final verdict. I noticed a small detail on my second viewing: That was the immigration officer who inspected Mr. Cobb's passport. And this is the person who let checked his papers before leaving the airport:

Are these people the same? Probably not, but what a hilarious coincidence. In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether it was a dream or reality, as long as Mr. Cobb was in a happy place, who cares? Mr. Cobb does not, and neither should you :)

Web Development Toolbox

"Use the right tools for the right job."

These templates are excellent starting points, as they contain all the best practices for a modern website, such as HTML5 support, optimized loading times, style resets, variable stylesheets, etc:

These are helpful tools for coding your projects. You can't get more lightweight than notepad.exe, but sometimes more firepower and support makes the job faster and easier, especially at debugging time. I think we can all agree that syntax colour-coding is more than just cosmetics. In case you haven't noticed, I develop on Windows.

Here are some editors that I found quite nice:

Need even more firepower? Check out these IDEs:

Remember to modify your PATH so you can launch from command line. If you have other recommendations, I would love to hear it!

Batman doesn't leave home without his utility belt, and neither should you. Make no concessions on your toolbox. You want the right tools for the right job.

The Best Stratagem

It is said in the 36 Stratagems (三十六計), the best is retreat (走爲上計). Like all cryptic ancient Chinese axioms, there are multiple ways to interpret this.

This stratagem #36 originated from 『檀公三十六策,走是上計。汝父子唯應急走耳。』which translates to "of the thirty-six stratagems of Lord Tán, retreat was his best, you father and son should run for sure". The person who said it was a rebel, and was making fun of the Emperor and the Crown Prince for running away from his rebellion, just as Lord Tan (檀公) had cowardly retreated earlier in history.

Sometimes, fear is the appropriate response.

The game is not over until you are dead, and defeat is always just a temporary setback, while you pick yourself up again. We know from history that the "cowardly" Crown Prince got the last laugh, as his empire eventually annihilated the rebellion.

Stubbornness makes great entrepreneurs, but if you know things are broken and cannot scale up, then GTFO ASAP. At the right times, the best stratagem is the retreat stratagem. Regroup and rebuild, then go out and kick some ass.
